In an alternate reality George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones book in 1996 would have taken the world by storm, smashed all bestseller records, and became a worldwide phenomenon. After the already massive international successes of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Xena: Warrior Princess just a year ago, television studios have become hungry to adapt another grand fantasy tale. HBO, deciding to finally move away from late-night comedy series and move into the drama genre, picks up the rights to adapt Martin's magnum opus and hires Kevin Sorbo to play the role of Ned Stark. Then in 1997, A Game of Thrones (remember that in the 90's articles in titles were still cool) is released in cheesy television glory and this is the main theme song. Afterwards, the world would never be the same.
I'm a sucker for anything modern that is retrofied (not an actual word, I know, but it should be). Now, all I need is the themes for Breaking Bad, House of Cards, and True Detectiveto be retrofied. That would make my day.
